Traveling through France we visit requested Cemeteries en route to our Hotel. A visit will be made during the trip to the beautiful Canadian Memorial and Battlefield Park at Vimy Ridge. It is our aim to visit as many places of interest listed in our Brochure as is possible within the constraints of time and traffic conditions after having fulfilled our obligations to visit agreed requested Cemeteries.
Ypres: Visit the Ypres Salient
from Ploegsteert Memorial to the missing. Drive along the Messines Ridge
following the line of the 19 Mine explosions to Hill 60. Hellfire corner
to Sanctuary Wood with preserved trenches and Museum, drive along the
infamous Menin Road through Gheluvelt immortalised by the heroic stand
by the Worcestershire Regiment, on to Passchendaele and Tyne Cot
Cemetery (largest British War Cemetery). Langemark German Cemetery,
Vancouver Corner scene of the first gas attack and Essex Farm where that
famous first World War poem " In Flanders Fields
" was composed by John Macrae.

DAMS: An opportunity to visit the impressive dams and appreciate
the skill and daring of the air crews on this mission in 1943. The
dams were breached by the famous bouncing bombs (the invention of
Barnes Wallis) and dropped by 617 Squadron led by Wing Commander Guy
Gibson.

COLDITZ CASTLE– Oflag 1Vc overlooking the river Mulde was a prison camp for Officers who had made at least one failed escape attempt during the war. We take a guided tour around the Castle with a visit to the Castle Museum, where many articles used in escape attempts are on display. 64TH anniversary D-DayNORMANDY BEACHES " THE LONGEST DAY " Operation Overlord4th -8th June Price £364
Codenamed ' Operation Overlord ' the D Day Landings of June 6 1944 were the mightiest invasion in History. The objective; to breach Hitler's supposed impregnable Atlantic wall and open up a second front. The Landings proved to be the key that unlocked the door to Fortress Europe and ultimate victory by the allied armies. The many Cemeteries in Normandy testify to the ferocity of the fighting that took place at the time.
Juno Beach Pegasus Bridge
Based in Caen we visit Pegasus Bridge, the Cafe Gondree (historically remembered as the first house freed from Nazi occupation). We drive along the Sea front ( Memorial way )to view the Landing Beaches, Gold, Juno, and Sword. We visit the Longues Battery and the Museum at Arromanches where the remnants of the Mulberry harbour can still be seen. The American Cemetery and Beach at Omaha are visited as well as St Mere Eglise, immortalised by the late John Steele whose parachute caught in the Church Steeple and Pointe du Hoc American Ranger Memorial. The recently uncovered German underground fortress complex near Omaha, Bayeux CWG Cemetery and Military Museum are also visited. The trip is based around visits to requested Cemeteries and as many places as possible will be visited time and traffic conditions permitting.Come and see for yourself where history was made
ARNHEM & NIJMEGEN " Operation Market Garden " ~ A Bridge too Far19th
– 23rd September
In September 1944 Operation Market Garden took place when the allied airborne army landed deep in Holland in an attempt to end the war by Christmas. This daring Airborne landing by British, American and Polish troops only failed after a heroic nine day stand which captured the imagination of the world. We visit Ginkel Heath, one of the Dropping and Landing Zones during the Battle. We trace the route taken by someof the 1st British Airborne troops to the famous Bridge at Arnhem, now known as the John Frost Bridge in recognition of his leadership.
We visit the Church which saw the withdrawal of survivors across the river, the house of the angel of Arnhem, Kate Ter Horst, who tended the wounded and whose garden became a burial ground and the site where L/Sgt. Baskeyfield won his VC.
We visit the Hartenstein Airborne Museum ( Major General Urquhart's HQ during the battle), the Wolfheze road junction where General Kussin's car was shot up, Groesbeek Heights and the beautiful Liberation Museum. Oosterbeek British Military Cemetery is visited for the special Service of Remembrance where the children of Arnhem lay flowers on each grave. Three recipients of the VC awarded for their part in the Battle are buried here. Reichswaldand Rheinberg Cemeteries near Kleve, Germany, can also be included. Other places of interest will be visited time permitting.
